ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH - whales and climate change

The Southern Hemisphere Humpback Whale Research Program on Climate Change is a research program that establishes a fundamental understanding of how changing ocean conditions are influencing the recovery of humpback whale populations and develops adaptation scenarios for advancing whale conservation, policies and programs under various projects. It will also lay the path for future research on other baleen species. The research program is a combined effort by Griffith University, Stellenbosch University, Cape Town University, Universidade Federal Do Rio Grande, Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

data collection research

This research program establishes a fundamental understanding of how changing ocean conditions are influencing the recovery of humpback whale populations will lay the path for future research on other baleen species using tools like the Whales & Climate Data Portal where users can explore datasets on whale sightings, ocean processes, biogeochemistry and climate. The new website integrated existing data already in use via Microsoft Power BI, to allow a seamless public front-end view for users to explore datasets on whale sightings, ocean processes, biogeochemistry and climate.

Usability and UX

When it came to optimising the Whales and Climate website for usability and user experience, the goal was always to lead users towards completing a desired action in an enjoyable way. By organising elements on pages strategically we structured them so that viewers are drawn first towards those important pieces of information they need more than anything else within the website.

mobile friendly website

Smartphones are the most popular device for accessing information online. To ensure that your website offers a great user experience, it needs to be optimised so mobile devices like smartphones and tablets can easily view its content which means using responsive web design practices such as readability; navigability (the structure of pages); simplicity in layout including clear fonts sizes when appropriate because users will want return again!

CLIENT FEEDBACK

Coral Creative has gone above and beyond to create an outstanding web platform for our international project. All elements have been beautifully integrated but most importantly we were able to form a website that everyone in the team really likes.
